Have-We-Mettes Show!

First item - I think we need waaay more people shareblogging. Me Harrison and to some degree Josh are bustin' our humps here - I want to see/hear/experience everyone's art!

Anyway the Have-We-Mettes had a show this weekend - it was a lot of fun and I wanted to share some of the recordings of it - not the greatest sound quality but still neat.

For my art class I'm currently working a project dealing with spam mail. I found two spam messages in my spam-box that were for ordering Eastern European brides. Like all spam mail it was worded strangely. I built off of this aspect by having the computer transcribe the email and then feed it through a speech recognition program. I repeated this several times till the message were even more incomprehensible. I'm going to be taking the speech recordings and creating a video piece out of them. For now I have just made a text piece out of them.

Songwriting!

It's been a very busy semester already for my bands! I'm in the midst of writing a whole slew of new songs for the Have-We-Mettes and am very excited to finish them so I can share them with you beautiful people! I'm also in the process of recording some songs with my other band, the Original Mavericks! So I don't have a lot of new stuff to share, but a ton is on its way!

You guys I really swear that I'm going to post some stuff on this shareblog I'm just trying to figure out what. It'll probably be songs though.

EDIT: Oh wait I forgot my friend Wiggles' roommate really liked one of the mashups I did and posted it on Youtube. Wiggles texted me and said "my roommate wants to post your song on youtube is that okay?" and my only response was "sure as long as he gives me credit." So please check out the video description and notice just HOW MUCH credit I am given for this song. In case anyone was wondering who made this thing. I also don't really remember where the title Butterfly Jester came from for the "album" (which doesn't exist) but I definitely am not the one who came up with it. I know it's a reference to a time when my other friend from high school changed my profile picture on Facebook to this:

This is inspiring me to work on some more music today. So look for that!

Covers

First of all, let me just mention that Harrison's last post was the coolest! And I hope to see more book art and/or have that be a class at CRCAP next summer.

These are just some covers the Have-We-Mettes have done over the past couple of years. We recorded a version of my favorite Ronettes song, "He Did It" - the biggest change from the original was Rosalie's very cool vocal riff at the end of the song. We did about 20+ takes of that with me yelling different inspirations through the sound booth wall, but I think the one that appears on the final track here was the third or fourth we recorded.

And, just for fun, here's a cover of Tik Tok recorded live from one of our shows. We pride ourselves on this cover being both slower and faster than the original. Pretty silly, but fun times nonetheless.
